Silica Sand
Overview
Silica sand is a naturally occurring granular material composed predominantly of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) in the form of quartz — one of the most abundant minerals in Earth's crust, valued for its chemical purity, hardness, durability and thermal resistance. Processed to high purity for water-treatment applications from residential to industrial scale.
Applications
- Drinking water treatment — post-coagulation and sedimentation filtration
- Industrial process water — manufacturing, cooling towers, boilers
- Swimming pool filtration — commercial and residential sand filters
- Wastewater treatment — tertiary polishing before discharge or reuse
- Septic systems — final treatment before soil infiltration
- Membrane pre-filtration — upstream of RO or UF
