Quartz Sand
Overview
Quartz sand is a naturally occurring granular filter medium composed primarily of silicon dioxide (SiO₂) in the form of quartz grains. It's valued for its high silica content, exceptional durability, and chemical stability — making it a reliable filtration bed material across residential, commercial and industrial water systems.
Applications
- Drinking water treatment — filtration step after coagulation and sedimentation
- Industrial process water for manufacturing, cooling towers and boilers
- Swimming pool filtration — commercial and residential sand filters
- Wastewater treatment — tertiary polishing stage
- Septic system final treatment before soil infiltration
- Pre-filtration for reverse osmosis (RO) and ultrafiltration (UF) membranes
